Fine Detail Brass Model Kits
Welcome to newsletter number 2 from Severn Models!
Thank you for your continued interest and support of the Severn Models venture. I continue to be inspired by enthusiastic modellers to create new kits, and it is great to meet people for a second time and hear how they got on with what was perhaps their first time working in brass. While some people are used to it, for others brass models are approached with trepidation - so credit to all those who stepped up to 'have a go'! I aim to make kits accessible to as many modellers as possible and while some are a little more delicate, I always recommend building a garden shed as an ideal first kit. There is nothing better than hearing feedback from customers about their successes (and challenges!) to help me improve the quality and detail level going forwards.
It has been a busy spring / summer, with lots of exhibitions and several new kits now available. I also took the display to my first dollshouse miniatures exhibition at York in June which was successful, so if you are one of the many enthusiasts I spoke to there, you can also expect more kits suitable for your models too.
The Photo Gallery is now online with images of completed models, like this one above of some of the tool kits used in a new setting by John Smerdon (thanks John!). Thank you if you sent something in, please keep them coming. Many of the images have been contributed by customers, but there are a few of mine in there still - ideally I would like to have it entirely made up of your images so if you have a few pictures please do email them to me. If you would like a picture credit please let me know, otherwise they will be shown anonymously.
The range of kits continues to grow a little each month so if you haven't visited the website recently, then you may wish to take a look to see what's new since your last visit www.severnmodels.com In the event that a kit goes out of stock, rest assured that new stock is in progress, and only about 2 weeks away. International shipping is available on the website, just proceed into the checkout and select the appropriate service for your location to see the costs before completing the order.
The detailing kits seem to be the most useful for adding extra realism to your models, so I plan to increase the range of these. Furniture is now available suitable for N modellers, and is planned for other scales going forward. The signal box interiors project is also moving along nicely, with kits now available for the N and OO scale buildings. The O scale version is planned to take shape over the next couple of months.
I have several weeks now with no exhibitions, so will be working on some new kits ready for the autumn. The Exhibition Calendar page lists all the shows I am attending this year - there are a few more to add but I am running out of weekends! Have a look to see if I am in your region, as it would be great to meet you at a show sometime. The next one is at Midland Railex at Butterley in Derbyshire - it is a heritage rail venue, so makes for a full day out.
Enjoy your modelling, and watch this space for more new kits over the coming months!
Best Regards,
Andy Vaughan
